Condition monitoring of electrical cables can prevent cables from failing prematurely. Partial discharge (PD) is the main source for degradation of the insulation material of medium-voltage cables. The well-known capacitor model of Germant and Philippoff was used to create Simulink models for the purpose of simulating PD. A basic model was designed to detect and measure PD activity within the insulation material of medium-voltage electrical cablesen_US
