Socio-economic and socio-demographic determinants of quality of life among young adults in South West Nigeria

Abstract

The present study examined the influence of socio-economic and socio-demographic factors on the quality of life (QoL) of young adults in south west Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey was employed to select 1050 young adults with age ranges from 20 years to 40 years (x age = 29.78, ?? = 4.61) that participated in the study. Results revealed a non-significant main effect of Educational Attainment (EA), F(4, 1040) = .95, p = ns, ?p 2 = .004; and Employment Status (ES), F(1, 1040) = .32, p = ns, ?p 2 = .000 on Quality of life (QoL), and non-significant interaction effect between EA and ES, F(4, 1040), = .47, p = ns, ?p 2 = .002. Results futher showed a a non-significant main effect of Religious Affiliation (RA), F (2, 1042) = .96, p =.ns, ?p 2 = .002 and Marital Status (MS) F(2, 1042) = .65, p>.05, ?p 2 = .001 on QoL. Finally, there was no significant interaction effect between RA and MS, F(3, 1042) = .94, p = ns, ?p 2 = .003. Based on the outcome of this study, appropriate recommendations were suggested.
