Abstract

This article analyses Calvin s understanding of the created structure of the human being and the influence of some of his anthropological concepts on his theology. Various anthropological themes in Calvin s theology are explored namely; his understanding of "the human s position in creation, the original goodness of the human being, the human s" "created relatedness to Christ, the relation between body and soul and the meaning" of the imago Dei. Thereafter illustrations are given of the influence that some key "anthropological concepts exerted on his theology, with special reference to his societal" "doctrine, doctrine of sin and doctrine of grace.
