The research is about the merger of the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport and its impact on delivery of service in Mafikeng. The former departments have a history of merging and at a later stage split again. A qualitative method was identified as the most relevant method for the research. Questionnaires were randomly distributed to collect data. There were 230 completed questionnaires using simple random sampling technique, 204 questionnaires were successfully completed. The distribution and collection took a period of two weeks. Three areas were covered, that is, Head Office, Ngaka Modiri Molema district and Molopo Sub-district offices around Mafikeng. The findings from the questionnaires show that there is a gap between managers and lower levels in terms of understanding the objectives of the merger. There is mixed uncertainty as a result of the merger especially to those employees who are working in support services, for example, Human Resource Management because to some extend their functions overlap.en_US
