‘Spiritual Formation’ in the light of the ‘Pentecost Event’ (Acts 2:1-4)

Abstract

There is always the risk of taking 'spiritual formation' into the realm of religious practice or 'dymythology.' Our distinctive world view demands that we maintain the dynamic reality and experience of the 'divine' within our lives. Christians are exposed to the 'influence', dynamism and person of the Holy Spirit. It is all 'from grace to grace'. While traditional practices may be incorporated within the believer's life-style to one degree or another, they may not eclipse the 'grace work' of the Holy Spirit of God. There remains a distinctive experience of the Spirit for all Christians that has its textual epi-centre within the Pentecost narrative of Acts 2.
