| dc.description.abstract | Translations of the Bible, and in particular, the New Testament are popularly used by Christians around the world. A problem sometimes occurs when the 'translation' ofa word finds its way into Bibles b ecause of bias within a certain historical context. Similarly, a translation can also govern the way Christians behave and prescribe ministry patterns to the detriment of some people. This has occurred with the word 'anthropos' within the Pastoral Epistles corpus when it has been translated into English consistently using the word 'man'. This article intends to explore the original intention of the author of the Pastoral Epistles and the o utcome for the original readers of the text. Once this is done, the final o utcome for 'faith and practice' will be considered for the contemporary context. The initial hermeneutical method will be the findings of the 'historicogrammatica' process outcome. Following this will be a theological-ethical investigation into the implications of language use within context and its impact on translation into practical ministry. The outcome will be an outcome proposal for reading the text within the contemporary global context for ministry coaching. | |
