Small signal stability is one focus of Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS). WAMS systems are becoming more widespread, driven by availability of synchrophasor data from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). In this paper, two methods capable of performing real-time small signal stability monitoring is evaluated by application to simulated data. Performance of the methods are tested to conditions likely to be found in practical use. The potential of both methods are further evaluated when applied to real-world data from a practical case studyen_US
