Abstract

The purpose of the study was to explore and investigate ways and means of attaining quality services production as well as maintaining the status quo, within the health care organisations (North West Province, Klerksdorp/Tshepong/Potchefstroom/ Witrand hospital complex). The survey method was used for this study, and the respondents to this study consisted of the Klerksdorp/Tshepong/Potchefstroom/Witrand hospital complex, employees and managers as well as the Southern region of the North West Province community members who were patients/clients during the period of survey. The primary tools for data collection were questionnaires for employees and patients/clients, as well as a structured interview for managers. The questionnaires respondents were 21, that is, 9 employees and 12 patients/clients respondents. All 21 useable questionnaires were returned. The interview respondents were 9 and none withdrew his/her participation from the interview. For the analysis and interpretation of data, tools such as frequency distribution tables and summation methods were used. The findings revealed the general satisfactory responses from the three categories of samples, however, aspects such as high morale of employees, motivation, reward systems and security, on the side of employees, an<l waiting time for both treatment and services, progress and treatment discussion and security services on the patient/client's side, were of major concern which warrants further investigation.
