Abstract

Many Christians seemingly experience the workplace and society at large of post-1994 South-Africa as discriminating. It feels to them as though they lost part of their identity and sense of value and belonging with the political transition of 1994. The validity of these perceptions is not the focus of the study. Scripture provides clear guidance on how Christians ought to react in the face of injustice and discrimination – regardless of the objective validity of these experiences. This study identifies Scriptural perspectives from 1 Peter (whose audience endured true injustice) and applies the results to the post-1994 Christian in South-Africa. The overall objective of this study is principally to offer guidance, in reference to 1 Peter, on how Christians should respond to injustice.
