Risk-based decision making in the petro-chemical industry

Abstract

In a changing world new procedures and methods are changing the face of maintenance. With the changes in legislation the maintenance practitioner is left with a wide variety of procedures which can be used to ensure a competitive advantage in a more and more global environment. This script analyses and describes an option which can be used to ensure the optimal use of scientific procedures to ensure competitiveness in the next century. Risk-Based-Inspection is analysed into its fines detail to find the scientific base building blocks and recommendations is made to ensure proper implementation of this procedure. A practical example is also given to show the procedure. Due to the competitive nature of the subject all the necessary information is however not supplied.
