The engine of change: Artificial intelligence (AI); at the heart of this transformation has become the dominant technology in academic contexts.AI is not just a tool; it is a transformative force that uses machine learning algorithms and natural language processing to re-engineer library operations. From classifying books to enriching metadata, AI simplifies complex tasks, ensuring accuracy and speed that far exceed human capabilities. In South African universities, this shift is already visible through the adoption of chatbots and virtual assistants that provide round-the-clock support, ensuring that distance learners and "digital natives" are never left without guidance.
