Topical delivery of selected growth factors

Abstract

Growth factors can benefit from controlled release admin- istration technologies (i.e. topical or transdermal delivery). When compared with other epithelial membranes, the skin has less enzymatic activity and so provides a more stable dosage medium and prolongs the delivery. The growth factors that were considered during this study are used for the treatment of alopecia (IGF-1, VEGF and KGF) and pigmentation (TNF-a & TGF-b)
