| dc.description.abstract | This paper investigates the use of the Taguchi method for the design of line-start permanent magnet synchronous motors (LS-PMSMs). To address the inherent limitation of the Taguchi method in solving multiresponse optimization problems, an improved regression rate methodology and a weighted factor multiobjective technique are incorporated to form a Taguchi method based multiobjective design framework. To validate the proposed method, a prototype machine has been designed, constructed, and experimentally evaluated.
