Abstract
NATURE AND SCOPE OF STUDY
Affirmative action in the public sector enjoyed new interests since the first democratic election on 2ih April 1994. The need for legislation to regulate the implementation of affirmative action could no longer be denied. Legislation of affirmative action should cover both the public and private sector. In this study, affirmative action will be analysed in the City Council of Brits and the empirical study will be done to identify the issues that are sensitive to the employees. The role, if the employees are motivated/demotivated will also be highlighted and if the implementation of affirmative action are lawful implemented in the City Council of Brits.
THE INSTITUTION RESEARCHED
Research was done at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education. The study mainly focuses on affirmative action in the City Council of Brits.
EMPIRICAL STUDY
This is mainly an empirical study and the method is descriptive, analytical and evaluating. Information on the subject was gathered by studying the relevant literature, legislation and reports, and by doing a random sample between the workers of the City Council of Brits to evaluate the empirical study on affirmative action.
CONCLUSION
The objectives of the study were achieved in that affirmative action in the City Council of Brits was outlined and it was found that White workers were demotivated and the Black workers motivated.
