| dc.description.abstract | On November 10, 2017, M.A. (Rien) Kaashoek turned eighty. Several initia-tives were taken to celebrate this event. At the Vrije Universiteit in Ams-terdam a one-afternoon workshop was organized on October 14; at the 2017IWOTA conference in Chemnitz there was a special session and a plenarylecture in honor of Rien's upcoming birthday.
