Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop an understanding in the use of
mobile devices in administering telemedicine services within the public health care
sector of South Africa. An online questionnaire was developed and distributed
amongst medical officers, specialists, students and medical staff of one of the
health districts of South Africa. This paper describes the design of the
questionnaire as well as the most significant outcomes. Results are presented in
terms of reasons why healthcare workers use mobile devices, as well as
perceptions in terms of transmission security and quality of transmitted
information
