Abstract
This research project examined adopting and utilising the Business Model Canvas (BMC) among small-scale tailoring businesses in South Africa. The main aim was to assess how these businesses leverage the BMC as a strategic tool to enhance their operations, adapt to market demands, and navigate regulatory challenges. Through a comprehensive literature review and empirical study involving interviews with twelve tailoring business owners, the research explored the adaptability of the BMC to the unique context of South Africa's diverse socio-economic landscape. Key findings indicated that the BMC significantly improves strategic planning, resource optimization, and operational efficiency. However, challenges such as regulatory compliance and access to resources remain. The study concluded with recommendations for tailored BMC frameworks and further research into long-term impacts and technological integration. These insights contribute to the existing body of knowledge on strategic management in small-scale businesses within emerging economies.
