This chapter contributes to the ongoing debate on whether Chinese multinational enterprises (CMNEs) are different from advanced-economy multinational enterprises (AMNEs) by applying the springboard perspective and the path dependence perspective to examine the differences between their practices of employing local workforce (namely local hiring) when they engage in greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI).
