dc.description.abstractTHE TRANSDERMAL ABSORPTION OF DRUGS THAT ARE SUITABLE FOR USE AGAINST MORNING SICKNESS DURING PREGNANCY The aim of this study was to determine the transdermal absorption of appropriate antiemetic drugs for use during pregnancy. Some of the objectives were obtained through a literature study done on the advantages of transdermal drug delivery over other drug delivery systems e.g. peroral drug delivery, factors that could influence transdermal drug delivery and the essential physicochemical characteristics required of drugs for effective transdermal drug delivery. After investigating the physicochemical characteristics of drugs which are normally prescribed for treatment of morning sickness ( oral administration) two drugs ( chlorpromazine hydrochloride and doxylamine succinate) were identified as promising candidates for transdermal delivery. ...en_US
