Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of participation in a theatre production on the perceptions of, and personal growth in, acceptance among adolescents in Promosa, Potchefstroom. Adolescent members of a Youth Development Organisation were part of this project. A qualitative study was conducted. Data were collected by using a narrative approach and focus groups. The collected data were was analysed manually and the results formulated thematically. Findings show that participation in this theatre production led to changes in perceptions of, and personal growth in, acceptance of others, of the self and of the circumstances of these adolescents.
