Sexual abuse seems to be an increasing problem within the community as well as within stepfamilies. The aim of this study is to identify risk factors for sexual abuse in stepfamilies to help social workers to enable parents to prevent intrafamilial sexual abuse within stepfamilies. Probability sampling was used with semi-structured interviews with six participants to collect data. During the study, it was found that the risks for sexual abuse in stepfamilies are a complex and multi-dimensional problem. The main risks identified were family composition, interpersonal relationships, socio-economic circumstances, and the mother's own abuse as a child as well as social functioning.en_US
