Abstract

Investigations focusing on transformational leadership and its consequences are essential. The importance stems from transformational leadership's association with important employee outcomes and attitudes. Research suggests that transformational leadership is positively related to job satisfaction and affective organisational commitment, However, these relationships were never tested or confirmed in the context of municipalities in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District of South Africa. This study, therefore, investigates the relationships between transformational leadership, organisational commitment, and job satisfaction in municipalities in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District of South Africa. The study was aimed at determining the relationships transformational leadership behaviours and employee attitudes such as job satisfaction and affective organisational commitment. Utilizing questionnaires, the study makes use of a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach, reach its' objectives. The findings show significant positive correlations between transformational leadership and employee attitudes such as job satisfaction and organisational affective commitment. In addition, it confirms affective commitment as a mediator in the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction. These results underscore the significance of transformational leadership in boosting employee satisfaction and organisational commitment, providing insights for both theoretical and practical applications. Recommendations are provided for future research and the municipalities in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District of South Africa.
