    Abstract
The investigation conducted endeavoured to establish a psychological evaluation of the Violent white female offender. Chapter one explores the literature dealing with crimes committed by the female with specific reference to violent crime. In this chapter the nature, description and etiology of such crimes are elucidated. The etiology covers aspects such as family influences, scholastic and vocational data, personality characteristics and pathology. Care and treatment of the female prisoner, as well as the psychological influence of imprisonment, are then discussed. The structure of the experiment is expounded in the second chapter, where nine Violent white female Non-violent white female prisoners. following: prisoners are compared with nine This investigation consisted of the (a) A Biographical Questionnaire for background information. (b) The South African Wechsler Intelligence Scale to measure intelligence. (c) The Group Personality Projection Test to determine possible pathological personality patterns in the Violent white female offender. (d) The Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire to establish personality traits of the White female violent offender. Chapter three comprises the remainder of the comparative study expounding the test results of the experimental goups. The following is a summary of the most important results. No significant difference was found in the intellectual abilities of the violent and the non-violent groups. The violent female exhibits more feelings of dependency and emotional instability than the non-violent female. The biographical details show a tendency for the older female to be more inclined to violent crime than the younger female. Furthermore it seems that the violent female's scholastic achievement is weaker than that of her non-violent counterpart. Chapter four contains a resume and conclusion regarding violent crime in the White female and the following findings are important: The intellectual abilities of the violent female offender are not a criminological factor. No clear biographical profile of the violent female offender was found, No clear profile can be attributed to the personality of the violent female. A critical re-evaluation regarding the rehabilitation possibilities within a prison is necessary.
