Abstract

Random linear network coding is a practical approach to network coding. It is, however, susceptible to corruption of the message packets due to hostile factors in the network. Error correction can be implemented, but in some resource limited networks nodes cannot afford to transmit additional parity packets for error correction. In [1-3] a method is presented where error correction can be implemented at the receiver nodes of the network without the transmission of parity packets over the network. The parity required for error correction is obtained from redundant packets collected by receiver nodes. In this paper we extend the method for the use in resource limited networks due to the reduction in network overhead and transmission resources as well as the increase of coding opportunities
