    Abstract
    Die toename in belangstelling in die bestudering en uitvoering van vroeë musiek in Suid-Afrika vra vir akademiese besinning. Heinrich Schütz verteenwoordig een van die fokuspunte in hierdie belangstelling en daarom is dit gepas om `n Suid-Afrikaanse perspektief by die omvattende literatuur oor hierdie komponis te voeg. Die resepsiegeskiedenis van Schütz en sy musiek word nagevors en sy plaaslike toepassing word ondersoek. `n Siening van Schütz word ontwikkel wat hom relevant maak vir die Suid-Afrikaanse konteks.
