By means of a literature study certain criteria for the compiling and implementation of school rules were established. It was further determined what the main purpose, advantage and disadvantage of school rules could be. An empirical study was conducted at selected primary schools of the TED by means of a questionnaire to establish to what extent the criteria, established by the literature study, had practical application. The data thus collected were analysed and certain conclusions were arrived at. Lastly, certain deductions were made about the standing of school rules in primary schools of the TED. Certain recommendations regarding the position of school rules in the future were also made.en_US
