Die bemagtiging van hoërskoolleerders in koshuise om seksuele misbruik aan te meld
The focus of this article is to empower high school learners that live in hostels to be able to report sexual abuse. Qualitative research methods were used to determine the learner's knowledge about reporting sexual abuse. This information was used to make recommendations to high school learners that live in hostels regarding how to report sexual abuse. Several questions were discussed in focus groups. The questions covered what sexual abuse is and what it implies, who should report it and where. The recommendations made will contribute to the statistics of sexual abuse being reported to rise due to the fact that these learners will be fully informed about what sexual abuse is and it implies. Furthermore, they will finally also know who needs to report it and to whom and where.
