In this study, the general consensus of modern New Testament scholars is used as anchoring point for this study when these scholars claim that Jesus' concept of "the kingdom of God" is the central theme, or core of his evangelical preaching. However, on the meaning of this central concept, divergent interpretations exist. This study attempts to take a closer look at one of the two main approaches to interpreting the concept, in this study referred to as the immanent approach. The immanent approach is applied as the hermeneutical lens to Jesus' Kingdom of God. With a view to interpreting Jesus' Kingdom of God concept within the current scientific paradigm, recent findings and approaches in Psychology and Anthropology are utilised to assist in the hermeneutical process of this central theological question.en_US
