The first was to ascertain the nature of public relations and secondly to detemine the potential of its use in social work. The third and fourth objectives were to determine the utilisation of public relations by the Department of Social Welfare and Pensions during the period 1937 to 1977 and to evaluate the present use of public media as a public relations technique by the said Department.
