The environmental performance of industries is, at present, primarily measured by their achievements in terms of air and water pollution, while little attention is given to the disposal of solid and dangerous waste. Indications are that companies need to develop standards through a satisfactory waste management program in the future to become competitive. The purpose of this script is to provide management with guidelines to effectively manage the disposal of waste in their enterprises. A theoretical background regarding waste classification, policy guidelines for waste management and an integrated waste management process is presented. A review of the most important laws pertaining to the operation of waste disposal areas as well as a theoretical background of auditing waste disposal areas are discussed. ...en_US
