The aim of the study was to understand gender equality, examine gender equality policy at Sedibeng District municipality and make recommendations for the implementation of gender equality at the municipality and on aligning efforts to the SDG goal 5. A quantitative study was conducted drawing information from a random sample of 51 employees with a demographic profile representative of the workforce of the municipality. The study found that the employees had high awareness of the gender equality police aspirations. The aspirations can be expressed as a world where women are at par with men in terms of treatment, opportunities, expectations, and capabilities. The study also found that Sedibeng District Municipality had considerably progressed in implementing and aligning to SDG goal 5 its gender equality policy although problems still lingered: the attitude of male employees still lagged, the work environment language still lagged and there is no uniform treatment of stakeholders with respect to the policy. It is recommended that the high awareness of gender equality aspirations within the organization must be used as a platform to rally employees towards transformation of mindsets particularly of men within the organization to secure relevant commitment to gender equality implementation.en_US
