Die rol van die Blanke werker in die motivering van die swart werker
Abstract
Today, many studies are conducted with reference to the motivation of the Black worker in the industrial situation. However, the Black worker can not be studied in isolation, since the White worker still holds the executive position, and therefor he can influence the Black's motivation. This investigation is directed towards investigating the role of the White worker in the motivation of the Black worker, in a specific organization. Firstly, attitudes were discussed: the measurement thereof, some factors influencing the formation of attitudes and methods to be used in changing the attitudes of workers. This discussion showed that the organization is important in determining the attitude of his workers. If attitudes will have to be changed, it has to start at the top of the organization and work down to the lower levels. Secondly, motivation in the industrial situation were discussed. The leadership approach is important in the determination of the way in which a worker is to be motivated. Leadership approaches were discussed with reference to McGregor's theory X and theory Y. Further, Maslow's and Herzberg's theories on motivation were discussed . Hereafter, the discussion went back to the
leadership approaches and it was found that a X-leadership approach leads to motivation through the negative motivational model, and a Y-leadership approach leads to motivation through a positive motivational model.
