In the wake of the Apostolic Faith Mission (hereafter referred to as the AFM) centenary in 2008, all the role-players need to reflect once more on the long, painstaking and exhausting process that shaped theological training within the AFM. The history of theological training in the AFM can be divided into five periods. The first period discussed here, was that preceding the existence of Bible schools (1908– 1923); the second was the early Bible school period (1924–1949); the third the Bible school period (1950–1969), and the fourth that of the theological college (1970–1995). From 1996 to 2008 the National Leadership Forum of the AFM made several attempts to unite the different theological colleges, but to no avail. It will be interesting to see whether the colleges will indeed be united, or whether theological training within the AFM is to continue on its uncertain and trying path.
