    Abstract
The occurrence and extent of harmful algal blooms (especially cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates) seem to be increasing worldwide. For water resource managers to be prepared for these events, and to enable managers to warn potable industry and recreational users of these incidents, it is essential to develop predictive capability as a part of the management actions.
