    Abstract
A simple method for the synthesis of highly-confined and monodispersed, polyacryloylated starch-capped CdS nanoparticles (PAS-CdS) is reported. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited a strong quantum confinement effect with respect to the bulk sample. Fourier transform infrared spectra confirmed the presence of acryloylated starch (AS) as a passivating agent. Transmission electron microscopy indicated that the particles were well dispersed and spherical in shape
