dc.description.abstractThe research project is based on the developments with regard to employment equity within the Department of Finance, North West Provincial Government (NWPG). The study looks at the procedures used to implement employment equity and the progress made thus far in terms of the Employment Equity Act and other related policies. The problem is the perception of employees on employment equity and the progress made in respect to its implementation and procedures followed, thus far, within the Department of Finance, North West Provincial Government (NWPG). During conceptualize of the research project problem statement, the significant of the study, the primary objective of the study and defining the terms to be used were defined. The literature was reviewed using the employment equity matrix on the most words found on the articles on employment equity with relevancy to Department of Finance, North West Provincial Government (NWPG). The questionnaire were developed and distributed to all permanent employees of Department of Finance, North West Provincial Government (NWPG) regardless of race, age, disability, gender and level of employment and number of years employed in the organisation. The findings indicate that there still challenges with regards the implementation of employment equity. The challenged identified in this research project was the continue failure by the Department of Finance of the North West Provincial Government Administration in the implementation of Employment Equity act. The recommendations are given on whether is there an implementation strategy of employment equity policies, relationship between the human resources function and the provision of employment equity, impact of the Employment Equity Act on the Human Resources management and development and the challenges faced the implementation of the employment equity policy as they are deduced from the research study. Furthermore some of the recommendations are based on the researcher's understanding and analysis as the results indicates close contestation between positive and negatives.en_US
