A new secondary amine (N-butyl aniline) has been used as surfactant to synthesize monodispersed ZnS and CdS nanoparticles via the colloidal-route. The structural nature and optical properties of the as-synthesized nanoparticles have been analyzed. The average diameter of the ZnS and CdS nanoparticles are approximately 4 nm and 6 nm respectively. X-ray diffraction pattern confirms the cubic phase of ZnS and hexagonal phase of CdS.en_US
