Revision of the family Carabodidae (Acari: Oribatida) XI. Congocepheus kardiae sp. nov. and Zimbabweae pluosiae gen. nov., sp. nov. from the Republic of Zimbabwe
Abstract
Congocepheus kardiae sp. nov. and Zimbabweae pluosiae gen. nov., sp. nov. from Zimbabwe are described by use of optical and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Co. kardiae presents notable differences in shape and length of setae: in setae heart-shaped; c1 very long, willow leaf-shaped with central vein; genital and aggenital setae velate; an setae small, stick-like. The new species is compared to other members of the genus Congocepheus. Zimbabweae pluosiae gen. nov., sp. nov. exhibits the following distinctive characters: two prodorsal anterior depressions; a translamella; conspicuous Y-shaped cuticular notogastral carina, notogastral anterior depression divided into two zones; notogastral margin interrupted anterior to h3 setae; absence of posterior notogastral depression.
